How Fit Can I Get?

So that’s been the question since winter. How fit can I get? After losing 80lbs gained after college I realized my routine of jogging everyday had hit a plateau. I needed a change to take my fitness level up a couple notches.
Kate was working at Beachbody and after hearing about P90X I started to do some research and liked what I read. Full body fitness with a serious nutritional element with meal plans and recipes.
90 Days later I really was in some of greatest shape of my adult life. But clearly I had a long way to go to achieve the epic Zac Efron abs (Goubeaux calls them “FABS”).
I’ve never had “FABS” so towards the end of P90X I knew I would need to start something new to keep challenging my body to CREATE the FABS.
Enter INSANITY. It’s a 60 day routine by the same Beachbody company. Insanity is primarily a cardio based system with a bit of resistance training. Like all Beachbody programs, this one also has an accompanied meal plan. Score. I was in.
Coming right off of P90X, INSANITY’s slightly shorter daily routines during the first month were a welcome change of pace, but still a challenge. Then the 2nd month came along with the longer, tougher routines and they beat me into a pulp. I was constantly sore and tired but pushed through every day.
So back to the FABS. They are clearly on their way. But not here yet. So after a recovery week at the end of INSANITY’s 60 days I restarted P90X. This time, however, I’m an experienced graduate of the program and I understand all the nuances, quirks, challenges and issues that arise during the program. For extra encouragement/motivation I’ve invited my girlfriend to join me in the daily routines knowing full well that I’ll want to impress her with my performance. This kinda guarantees better form and longer endurance during the workouts, if only to show off.
So 2 days in and we’re CRUSHING IT.
I highly recommend both P90X (for over all fitness and muscle growth) and INSANITY (for weight loss and increased cardio endurance). I’ll be writing about our progress a bit as well, so if you’re at all interested in fitness of P90X/Insanity tips, this will all be very cool.
